L’ 11 Maggio 2015 è stato presentato un appello internazionale per la protezione dall’esposizione a campi elettromagnetici, sottoscritto da 190 scienziati di 39 nazioni alle Nazioni Unite, agli stati membri delle Nazioni Unite e all’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità. Questi scienziati hanno complessivamente pubblicato oltre 2000 articoli scientifici peer-reviewed sugli effetti biologici e sanitari delle radiazioni non ionizzanti, quello parte dello spettro elettromagnetico che include i campi a bassissima frequenza (ELF) utilizzati per l’elettricità e la radio frequenza, usata per le comunicazioni senza filo.
Il Dr. Martin Blank, in un video di tre minuti, introduce il contenuto e l’importanza dell’appello. Il Dr. Blank ha sulle spalle 30 anni di esperienza nella conduzione di ricerca riguardante i campi elettromagnetici presso la Columbia University ed è stato presidente dell’International Bioelectromagnetics Society. Nelle sue schiette parole, emerge l’impellente necessità di affrontare la questione di salute pubblica posta dall’inquinamento ambientale generalizzato derivante dalla proliferazione incontrollata di sorgenti di campi elettromagnetici che ci riguarda tutti.

Sono qui con inquietanti notizie sui nostri gadget preferiti: telefoni cellulari, tablets, Wi-Fi, etc.
Per dirla senza mezzi termini, essi stanno danneggiando le cellule viventi nel nostro corpo e uccidendo molti di noi prematuramente.
Sono il Dr. Martin Blank, del Dipartimento di Fisiologia e Biofisica Cellulare alla Columbia University.
E’ doloroso per me, e per più di 160 colleghi, che oggi hanno sottoscritto una petizione alle Nazioni Unite, chiedendo loro che affrontino questo problema.
Siamo scienziati e ingegneri, e sono qui per dirvi – abbiamo creato qualcosa che ci sta facendo male, e che sta andando fuori controllo!
Prima della lampadina di Edison, c’era pochissima radiazione elettromagnetica nel nostro ambiente. I livelli di oggi sono molte molte volte più alti dei livelli del fondo naturale e stanno crescendo rapidamente a causa di tutti i nuovi dispositivi che emettono questa radiazione.
Un esempio che molti di noi hanno in tasca in questo momento è il telefono cellulare. Uno studio mostra che da quando l’utilizzo del telefono cellulare si è ampiamente diffuso, l’incidenza di tumore cerebrale fatale nelle persone più giovani si è più che triplicato.
Stiamo installando antenne cellulari in edifici residenziali, e in cima agli ospedali, dove le persone stanno cercando di guarire.
I contatori intelligenti wireless e le stazioni radio base telefoniche stanno diffondendo radiazioni nei nostri quartieri.
E’ particolarmente inquietante il fatto che le radiazioni della nostra tecnologia di telecomunicazioni e di distribuzione energetica danneggi il DNA nelle nostre cellule. E’ chiaro a molti biologi che questo può spiegare i tassi in aumento di cancro.
Le generazioni future – I NOSTRI BAMBINI – SONO A RISCHIO.
Questi biologi e scienziati non vengono ascoltati dai comitati che stabiliscono gli standard di sicurezza.
I fatti BIOLOGICI vengono ignorati, e come risultato i limiti di sicurezza sono troppo alti.
ESSI NON SONO PROTETTIVI!
Verrà fuori più protezione probabilmente dalla piena divulgazione di possibili conflitti di interesse tra le autorità di regolamentazione e l’industria.
L’aumento dell’esposizione alle radiazioni elettromagnetiche è un problema GLOBALE. L’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità e gli enti per la definizione degli standard internazionali non stanno agendo per proteggere la salute pubblica e il benessere.
Le linee guida internazionali per l’esposizione devono essere rafforzate per riflettere la realtà del loro impatto sui nostri corpi, e in particolare, sul nostro DNA.
Anche se siamo ancora nel bel mezzo di una grande trasformazione tecnologica, si è in forte ritardo nell’affrontare gli effetti negativi biologici e sulla salute.
Siamo davvero tutti parte di un grande esperimento biologico, senza il nostro consenso informato.
Per proteggere i nostri figli, noi stessi, e il nostro ecosistema, dobbiamo ridurre l’esposizione attraverso la definizione di linee guida più protettive.
E così, oggi, gli scienziati di tutto il mondo stanno presentando un appello alle Nazioni Unite, i suoi stati membri e all’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità, per fornire una leadership nell’affrontare questa crisi della salute pubblica.

L’appello formula delle richieste molto precise e pressanti.
“Collettivamente chiediamo che:
1. Vengano protetti i bambini e le donne incinta;
2. Si rinforzino le linee guida e gli standard regolamentari;
3. I produttori vengano incoraggiati a sviluppare tecnologia più sicura;
4. I servizi di utilità pubblica (società dell’energia elettrica, telefonia, etc.) responsabili della produzione, trasmissione, distribuzione, e monitoraggio del mantenimento dell’elettricità, mantengano di un’adeguata qualità della corrente elettrica e assicurino cavi elettrici appropriati per minimizzare i danni prodotti dalla corrente a terra;
5. Il pubblico venga pienamente informato riguardo ai rischi potenziali per la salute derivanti dall’energia elettromagnetica e vengano loro insegnate le strategie per la riduzione del danno;
6. Ai professionisti del campo medico si provveda un’educazione adeguata riguardo agli effetti biologici dell’energia elettromagnetica e sia provvista una formazione al trattamento di pazienti che soffrono di elettrosensibilità;
7. I governi finanzino formazione e ricerca sui campi elettromagnetici e la salute che sia indipendente dall’industria e impongano la cooperazione tra industria e ricercatori;
8. I mass media rivelino i rapporti tra gli esperti della finanza con l’industria quando citano le loro opinioni riguardo gli aspetti sulla salute e la sicurezza delle tecnologie di emissione di EMF; e
9. Vengano stabilite delle zone-bianche (aree libere da radiazioni).“
