Esistono da decenni brevetti per la manipolazione delle scie degli aerei, per farle apparire o scomparire, e tanto altro ancora.

Le particelle di pigmento in polvere che diffondono la luce, trattate in superficie per ridurre al minimo le forze coesive interparticellari, vengono erogate da un deagglomeratore a getto come particelle singole separate per produrre una scaglia di polvere con la massima visibilità o capacità di diffondere le radiazioni per un determinato peso di materiale….

La presente invenzione riguarda un generatore di polvere che non richiede alcuna fonte di calore per emettere una scia di fumo con una visibilità sufficiente a favorire l’acquisizione visiva di un veicolo bersaglio e simili. Il termine “contrail” è stato adottato per comodità nell’identificare la scia di polvere visibile di questa invenzione. I veicoli bersaglio aerei sono utilizzati per simulare minacce aeree per i test missilistici e spesso volano ad altitudini comprese tra 5.000 e 20.000 piedi a velocità di 300 e 400 nodi o più. La presente invenzione può essere utilizzata anche su altri veicoli aerei per generare scie o schermi riflettenti per qualsiasi scopo desiderato….

Il pigmento di biossido di titanio è stato scelto come materiale primario di diffusione della luce per la sua capacità di diffusione della luce altamente efficiente e per le qualità di pigmento disponibili in commercio. Il pigmento di biossido di titanio (ad esempio, Du-Pont R93 l con una dimensione mediana delle particelle di circa 0,3) ha un’elevata densità di massa e non è facilmente aerosolizzabile come nube submicronica senza il consumo di una grande quantità di energia di deagglomerazione. Per ridurre il fabbisogno energetico per la deagglomerazione, la polvere di TiO viene trattata in modo speciale con una silice colloidale idrofobica che ricopre e separa le singole particelle di pigmento TiO…

Con l’apparecchio qui descritto si possono utilizzare anche composizioni di polvere di altro tipo. Ad esempio, varie particelle di polvere che riflettono le radiazioni elettromagnetiche possono essere erogate come chaff o simili dal generatore di contrail.
Ovviamente, alla luce degli insegnamenti di cui sopra, sono possibili molte modifiche e variazioni della presente invenzione. È quindi evidente che, nell’ambito delle rivendicazioni allegate, l’invenzione può essere praticata in modo diverso da quello specificamente descritto….
